Vogel Telecom, a wholesale and B2B telecoms provider in Brazil, has enlisted Ciena to successfully deploy what it says is Sao Paulo’s first 800Gbps optical network. Ciena says that it has deployed its Waveserver 5 compact interconnect platform to deliver efficient high-bandwidth 100GbE and 400GbE connectivity services over an 800G wavelength. The vendor adds: ‘Vogel can transport the most capacity over a single wavelength and remotely turn up capacity quickly and easily as needed through Ciena’s pay-as-you-grow model.’

Founded in 2014, Vogel Telecom now presides over a fibre-optic network which spans over 26,000km and connects 600 cities across 13 Brazilian states. Its controlling shareholder is Patria Investments.
