Globe Telecom says its 5G network rollout has now reached over 1,000 sites nationwide, with recent upgrades in the closing months of 2020 helping extend the footprint of the technology to at least 848 sites in Metro Manila and Rizal, and 183 locations in Visayas and Mindanao. In addition, Ayala-led Globe confirmed that areas in Cavite, Laguna and Bulacan are now 5G-enabled, boosting the number of cell sites online to 1,045 across the country.

Globe vice president for post-paid and international services, Coco Domingo, is quoted as saying that more areas will be added in 2021 to make 5G ‘more inclusive’, pointing out that as well as ‘key’ areas in Metro Manila where it was initially rolled out, Globe’s 5G service is now available in various locations in Negros Occidental, Cebu, Iloilo, and Aklan in Visayas, plus Misamis Oriental and Davao del Sur in Mindanao.
