Tele2 picks Nokia for 5G core rollout

11 Jan 2021

Sweden-based Tele2 group has selected Nokia to roll out its core 5G networks in Sweden and the Baltic states. The Finnish vendor will deploy Standalone (SA) 5G core and Voice-over-5G (Vo5G) systems to enhance Tele2’s cloud infrastructure and improve data and voice connectivity for Tele2’s subscribers in Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The new core infrastructure will support and improve both 4G and 5G connectivity, which will result in higher speeds and lower latencies for consumers and businesses. Deployments are expected to start in 2021.
