Orange Niger has been rebranded as Zamani Telecom, one year after it was acquired by Zamani Com from Orange Group. ActuNiger quotes the firm’s Managing Director Souleymane Diallo as saying that the company invested over XOF40 billion (USD74.6 million) in its networks and services this year, with the aim of increasing coverage in rural areas. The firm has launched LTE-A services in Niamey and Diffa and says it plans to soon increase 3.5G coverage nationwide.
In November 2019 France’s Orange Group completed the sale of its entire 95.5% stake in Orange Niger to Zamani Com, after the transaction received approval from the relevant authorities. Zamani Com is wholly owned by businessmen Mohamed Rissa of Rimbo Invest and Moctar Thiam, both already minority shareholders of Orange Niger.
