Swedish telco Telia says its 5G mobile network is now live in 20 cities, with plans to expand its footprint to match that of its 4G network, which reaches 99% of Sweden’s population and 90% of the territory. The expansion will follow the award of new 5G spectrum, which is expected next year. The firm says it will be investing billions of kroner under a five-year deal with equipment partner Ericsson.
‘Our networks have never been more important. The recent hardships associated with the pandemic have really shown how dependent we all are on a fast and stable connection and modern services. It is a prerequisite for a sustainable digital economy. That is why we are now continuing to invest and develop our mobile networks in order to give even more customers access to a connected community,’ said Anders Olsson, CEO of Telia Sweden.
