Dense Air has announced that it has successfully deployed a 5G cell site at the Estoril Congress Centre in Cascais, in line with an MOU signed in September 2019 between Cascais City Council and Dense Air. Dense Air notes that it has also rolled out ‘other strategically placed small cells’ as it seeks to test and validate its proposition. The 5G launch is also expected to enhance Cascais’s ‘smart city’ ambitions.
Tony Boyle, Dense Air Portugal General Manager, commented: ‘This is another very significant milestone for Dense Air Portugal, bringing neutral-host 5G services to market. This 5G Massive MIMO site delivers Gigabit services to 5G enabled handsets.’
TeleGeography notes that Dense Air gained access to 5G-suitable 3.6GHz spectrum in Portugal via its takeover of Broadband Portugal, a company that had its roots in WiMAX licensees Bravesensor and ZAPPWIMAX.
