Telekom expands 5G in Bremen and Hanover

15 Dec 2020

Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile business of Deutsche Telekom (DT), has increased coverage of its 5G network in Bremen and Hanover. The firm says it has recently switched on 18 antennas operating in the 3.6GHz band in each of the two cities, in order to provide maximum download speeds of 1Gbps. In addition to Bremen and Hanover, Telekom’s 5G services are available in Berlin, Bonn, Darmstadt, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Nuremberg.

Telekom now covers two thirds (around 55 million) of Germans via a network of 45,000 antennas and this will rise to 80% within a year and 99% by 2025.
