Viatel swoops for Irish Telecom; deal follows October Ripplecom takeover

7 Dec 2020

Ireland’s Viatel Group has announced the acquisition of domestic B2B player Irish Telecom Services, which specialises in fully managed corporate connectivity. Irish Telecom, which has offices in Dublin and Cork, has been operational for eleven years. In 2018, the business joined forces with Exigent Networks and Netforce to form Paradyn. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

TeleGeography notes that the announcement follows hot on the heels of Viatel’s October acquisition of Limerick-based telecoms provider Ripplecom. The newly expanded Viatel Group now serves 28,000 residential customers (via Digiweb) and almost 4,000 businesses across Ireland (under the Viatel brand).
