Vega expands Gigabit coverage; passes 80,000 premises in Odessa alone

4 Dec 2020

Ukrainian telco Vega announced that its ‘Gigabit’ GPON 1Gbps fibre broadband service – launched in May 2020 covering 100 high-rise apartment buildings in Kyiv, Odessa and Dnipro – now passes 100,000 apartments, private houses, offices and business facilities in Kyiv, Odessa, Dnipro and Lviv, up from 30,000 premises reported in mid-year. The widest Gigabit coverage to date is concentrated in Odessa, with 80,000 premises within the 1Gbps footprint in two districts of the Black Sea port city. Vega is a sister company of Ukrtelecom under the ownership of domestic conglomerate System Capital Management (SCM), but the two telcos continue to operate separately.
