1 Dec 2020

Costa Rica’s Superintendency of Telecommunications (Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones, Sutel) has reportedly launched a consultation into spectrum suitable for 5G use. According to El Financiero, frequencies under discussion include: 700MHz, 2300MHz, 3.3GHz-3.4GHz, 26GHz and 28GHz. The report says that the regulator is keen to gauge industry stakeholder feedback on subjects such as new operator participation; minimum bandwidth requirements; and the possibility of a 5G wholesale network deployed by state-backed Grupo ICE. The consultation was launched on 25 November and will run for ten days.
