Proud Prairie: Rogers 5G rolling into Manitoba

23 Nov 2020

Canada’s largest mobile operator by subscribers Rogers Communications has expanded its commercial 5G mobile network services to the province of Manitoba, launching initially in the cities of Winnipeg and Brandon. Customers on Rogers Infinite or Rogers for Business Shared Unlimited Data plans with compatible 5G devices will gain access to the new network.

Including the newly added cities, Rogers 5G network – launched in March 2020 in partnership with Ericsson – now reaches a total of 134 cities and towns across Canada, with ‘ten times more coverage than any other carrier’, the operator claims. More than 2.2 million customers subscribe to 5G-ready Rogers Infinite plans.

Larry Goerzen, President of Prairies & Alberta, Rogers Communications, declared: ‘The arrival of 5G in Manitoba will change the way we live, work and do business here. 5G represents a massive technological transformation that will connect everything in our world from people and machines, to homes and cities.’ Ralph Eichler, Manitoba Minister of Economic Development, added: ‘This expansion will bring new technology to our businesses and contribute to Manitoba’s long-term competitiveness.’
