Cypriot 5G auction imminent

20 Nov 2020

Cyprus’ 5G auction is expected to take place next month, with a view to the granting of licences in January 2021. The sale process, which is being overseen by the Department of Electronic Communications under the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, will involve six 2×5MHz lots in the 700MHz band and eight 50MHz lots in the 3.6GHz band. Operators must not exceed the 2×10MHz/700MHz and 100MHz/3.6GHz spectrum caps. Winning bidders will have an obligation to cover 70% of the population, as well as all highways by 31 December 2025, delivering download speeds of up to 100Mbps.
