Pakistani cellco Jazz has filed a case with the Islamabad High Court to challenge the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR’s) claims that the operator owes some PKR25 billion (USD158 million) in unpaid income taxes and surcharges. In a statement from Jazz’s parent company VEON, the Netherlands-registered group noted that it had been granted a stay on the FBR’s demand and had deposited PKR5 billion as a pre-payment against any amounts determined to be due by the courts.
