DISH adds Intel to vendor list for 5G rollout

6 Nov 2020

Satellite TV giant DISH Network has confirmed plans to integrate Intel’s 5G technology into its buildout of a virtualised, open radio access network (O-RAN) 5G deployment. DISH has selected the Intel Xeon Scalable Processor, the Intel Ethernet 800 Series network adapter, the Intel vRAN Dedicated Accelerator ACC100 and Intel’s FlexRAN software reference architecture for its ongoing deployments.

Intel is the latest in a series of tech firms enlisted by the wireless market aspirant to assist with its rollout. In September DISH selected Nokia to deploy its standalone core software products as part of its planned cloud-native 5G network. The company had previously inked 5G agreements with Fujitsu, Altiostar and VMware.
