Italian govt steps in to block Fastweb 5G deal with Huawei

The Italian government has reportedly blocked a deal which would see Chinese firm Huawei providing 5G core network equipment for local telco Fastweb. A report from Reuters, which cites three sources close to the matter, says the decision was made at a cabinet meeting last week. ‘The government has vetoed the operation, asking Fastweb to diversify its suppliers,’ a senior government source told Reuters.
