Israel’s Ministry of Communication (MoC) has confirmed the official awarding of Cellcom’s 5G concession in a press release, paving the way for a commercial launch by the cellco. Although it has yet to formally announce the opening of its 5G network to subscribers in the wake of the development, the operator is now marketing plans for its next generation mobile broadband network on its website, with prices starting at around ILS50 (USD14.8) per month; it also sells 5G-compatible handsets. Further, Cellcom has published a list of 48 locations where its 5G network is being readied, including Ashdod, Haifa, Jerusalem, Netanya, Rishon LeZion, Petah Tikva and Tel Aviv.
