Verizon, Ericsson, Qualcomm notch 5Gbps 5G speeds

21 Oct 2020

Verizon, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies have teamed up to demonstrate peak 5G download speeds of 5.06Gbps using millimetre wave (mmWave) spectrum deployed via a carrier aggregation (CA) configuration. The 5.06Gbps speed was delivered using 800MHz of bandwidth in the 28GHz band combined with a 40MHz block of LTE spectrum for the 4G ‘LTE anchor’. The vendors notes that this band combination is commercially supported by the Ericsson Radio System portfolio and several 5G devices that are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF system.
