Vodacom invests TZS75bn in 3G and 4G expansion

Vodacom Tanzania is investing TZS75 billion (USD32 million) in the expansion of its 3G and 4G networks this year, the cellco’s Managing Director Hisham Hendi told The Citizen. Vodacom is aiming to increase high speed mobile data coverage to 90% of the population by 2025. Hendi also revealed that Vodacom is in talks with the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) about the possibility of launching 5G services in the future, adding that the regulator was looking to examine the allocation of suitable spectrum for 5G when it becomes available.
