Globe plans to build at least 800 new cell sites by end-2020

Globe Telecom plans to install a minimum 800 new cell sites before the end of 2020 in a bid to further improve mobile coverage and capacity. In a statement today (8 October), Ayala-led Globe confirmed that new sites are set to be constructed in North Luzon with Bulacan, Pampanga and Pangasinan among the top 15 provinces in terms of target builds. Further, Cavite is listed as one of the top twelve provinces in South Luzon identified for expansion. The list also includes Albay, Batangas, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Quezon, Laguna, Marinduque, Masbate, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Romblon, it said. Not content to end there, in Visayas, more than a hundred sites are being eyed in Cebu, while sites are also set in Aklan, Antique, Bohol, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Samar and Negros Oriental. A total of 190 installations will be built in these provinces, Globe confirmed. Moreover, another 166 sites are planned for Mindanao with Davao del Sur getting the highest concentration.
