5 Oct 2020

Latvian utilities regulator the Public Utilities Commission (Sabiedrisko Pakalpojumu Regulesanas Komisija, SPRK) has announced that it has cancelled the spectrum rights of telco Tet – previously known as Lattelecom – for frequencies in the 26GHz band. According to a statement from the SPRK it did so at the request of Tet, having received a notification from the company on 17 September.

Separately, meanwhile, the SPRK also approved the costs claimed by Tet for satisfying its universal service obligations in 2019, a total of EUR360,948 (USD422,850). These costs relate to discounts offered to certain groups of subscribers to ensure that all Latvian citizens are able to access telecoms services.
