Xplornet buys CCI Wireless

Xplornet Communications, Canada’s largest rural-focused broadband operator, has completed the acquisition of CCI Wireless, a fixed-wireless internet and VoIP home phone provider in rural and remote areas of Alberta. The deal of undisclosed value closed on 1 October 2020 when Xplornet acquired Corridor Communications, the owner of Calgary-based CCI Wireless which also serves enterprise clients in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan alongside its Albertan residential network.

Xplornet CEO Allison Lenehan said: ‘This exciting acquisition will join CCI Wireless’ Western depth and robust network to Xplornet’s nationwide team and state-of-the-art rural broadband infrastructure. This will enable us to accelerate our plans to deliver unprecedented speeds and unlimited data plans at affordable prices to rural customers.’ CCI Wireless CEO Jordan Young added: ‘We’re proud of what we have built since 2007…This acquisition is excellent news for rural Western communities and local businesses.’
