2 Oct 2020

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved an action plan for 2020-2022 to improve the quality of mobile communications, including preparations for the launch of 5G technology, reports citing Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal’s announcement via his Telegram channel. The PM wrote: ‘We are talking about the implementation of European approaches to the quality of communication and electronic communication services. Part of this plan will include provisions that will make it possible to further introduce 5G technology in Ukraine.’ The plan stipulates the adoption of national standards meeting European ETSI standards for the implementation of 5G technologies. Before the end of this year, the government intends to approve legal amendments supporting 5G via allocation of radio frequency resources including the technology-neutral usage of existing mobile spectrum bands.
