Algerian cellcos fined for poor 4G coverage in five provinces

Algeria’s Authority for Regulation of Post & Electronic Communications (Autorite de Regulation de la Poste et des Communications Electroniques, ARPCE) has fined the country’s three mobile operators a total of DZD172.52 million (USD1.33 million) for failing to improve unsatisfactory 4G LTE network coverage in five regions (wilayas) – Blida, Djelfa, Tlemcen, Adrar and Constantine – which the watchdog observed in February-March this year. Agence Ecofin reports that Djezzy was fined DZD82.58 million, Algerie Telecom Mobile (Mobilis) DZD63.92 million and Ooredoo DZD26.02 million.
