Great Plains Communications completes ETC acquisition

21 Sep 2020

Midwestern telecoms provider Great Plains Communications (GPC), which operates a 13,000-mile fibre network reaching 11 states, has completed its previously announced acquisition of Indiana-based Enhanced Telecommunications Corporation (ETC). Operational in South-eastern Indiana for more than 85 years, ETC currently serves 14,000 business, wholesale and residential customers with broadband, voice, pay-TV, Ethernet and transport services.

TeleGeography notes that GPC – which is said to be the largest privately owned telco in Nebraska – was acquired by private equity firm Grain Management in October 2018. In 2019 Grain went on to ink takeover deals for St Louis-based InterCarrier Networks (via GPC), Arkansas-based Ritter Communications, Oregon-based Hunter Communications and Florida-based Summit Broadband.
