Euskaltel Group has signed a wholesale agreement with EQT-backed fibre provider Adamo Telecom, through which it will gain access to the latter’s entire fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, which passes more than one million homes across the country. The five-year agreement, which can be renewed by mutual consent, allows Euskaltel to access Adamo’s network in Bitstream mode. TeleGeography notes that Adamo expects its fibre networks to pass 1.5 million homes by the end of 2020.
As previously reported by CommsUpdate, regional provider Euskaltel launched a new national proposition, Virgin Telco, in May this year, with a view to targeting the 85% of the Spanish market where it does not currently operate via its Euskaltel, Telecable and R brands. As of 30 June 2020 Virgin Telco had signed up 6,500 customers, exceeding Euskaltel’s expectations.
