8 Sep 2020

Verizon Wireless has reportedly awarded Samsung Electronics America a contract worth USD6.6 billion to deploy its 5G networks. The five-year rollout contract runs from 30 June 2020 to 31 December 2025 and the deal is understood to represent the most lucrative 5G contract handed to Samsung to date.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, last month Verizon was identified as the dominant bidder in the most recent US 5G auction. The mobile market leader committed to pay a total of USD1.894 billion for 557 Priority Access Licences (PALs). Gross proceeds from Auction 105 reached USD4.586 billion, with the winning bidders securing 20,625 (91.1%) of the 22,631 available concessions.
