Romania-based Digi Communications has reported group revenues (excluding intersegment revenue and other income) of EUR309.9 million (USD366.3 million) for the three month period ended 30 June 2020, an increase of 5.4% from EUR294.1 million in Q2 2019. Adjusted EBITDA rose by 6% year-on-year to EUR115.2 million, net profit declined to EUR15.0 million from EUR20.8 million twelve months earlier, while operating expenses rose to EUR268.4 million compared with EUR255.7 million in the year-ago period.
The group reported total RGUs increased 9% y-o-y to 16.9 million at the end of June 2020. Romania continues to be the group’s core market, contributing almost 61% of group revenues and 11.87 million RGUs in Q2 2020, followed by Hungary (2.46 million), Spain (2.28 million) and Italy (245,000). The Romanian operation recorded 2.98 million fixed internet RGUs (an increase of 13.0% y-o-y), 3.80 million cable TV customers (up 10.3%) and 1.06 million fixed line telephony RGUs (down 6.4%). The company’s Romanian mobile subscriber base increased 4.2% to almost 3.53 million at the end of the quarter, although ARPU declined 2.1% y-o-y to EUR4.7 a month, which Digi attributed to lower mobile termination rates introduced with effect from 1 January 2020 and the impact of COVID-19 related restrictions on roaming revenues.
