Zain KSA expands 5G footprint to 35 cities

Zain Saudi Arabia (Zain KSA) has extended its 5G network coverage to five additional cities, namely Duwadimi, Hawtat Bani Tamim, Hayathim, Muzahimiyah and Quwayiyah, thus expanding its 5G footprint to 35 cities across Saudi Arabia. Zain KSA’s CTO Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Mufadda stated: ‘We are investing heavily towards advancing Saudi Arabia’s telecom sector to surpass commercial targets to national ones, as we strive to fulfil the aspirations of our astute leadership in achieving a comprehensive digital transformation and a diversified economy as per Saudi Vision 2030.’

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Zain launched commercial 5G services in October 2019, with the first phase of the rollout being implemented through a network of 2,000 towers that covered an area of more than 20 cities in the Kingdom. By the end of December 2019, the company had 2,600 5G towers in operations, covering 26 cities.
