Nepal Telecom to receive additional 1800MHz spectrum

11 Aug 2020

Nepal’s Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MoCIT) has decided to award Nepal Telecom (NT) 2×5MHz of additional frequencies in the 1800MHz band, reports Nepalitelecom.com. A meeting of the Ministry’s Radio Frequency Policy Determination Committee held on 7 August determined NT will have to match the NPR58 million (USD478,200) per MHz paid by rival mobile network operator Ncell in the residual spectrum auction staged in December 2019. The additional frequencies will increase NT’s management rights in the 1800MHz band to the maximum of 20MHz permitted by the Nepal Telecommunication Authority’s rules.
