DOCOMO Pacific launches 5G in Guam, Northern Mariana Islands

10 Aug 2020

DOCOMO Pacific has announced that it has launched mobile 5G services in Guam and in Saipan, which is part of the Northern Mariana Islands. The Japanese-backed firm notes that mobile 5G will allow customers to experience speeds of up to 250Mbps (downlink) and 15Mbps (uplink) on compatible devices, which include the LG V50, Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, which will be released imminently. The Guam-based network has gone live in Skinner Plaza and Ypao Beach Park while the Saipan network serves Paseo de Marianas. The technological specifications of the network have not been disclosed.

Roderick Boss, CEO of DOCOMO Pacific, commented: ‘5G is more than speed. It is the gateway for Guam and the CNMI to enter the next level of innovation and technology. Think self-driving vehicles, fully integrated home IoT, VR and AR for a remote-learning video connection so clear your kids feel as if they’re physically in the classroom.’
