Further QoS fines for Mauritanian MNOs

Mauritel, Chinguitel and Mattel – the three mobile network operators (MNOs) in Mauritania – have been handed further fines by the regulator for failing to maintain adequate quality of service (QoS) levels. The Regulatory Authority (Autorite de Regulation, ARE) has imposed penalties totalling MRU95 million (USD2.5 million). Mauritel must pay MRU62 million, Mattel has been fined MRU27.3 million and Chinguitel has been hit with a MRU6 million charge. This is the second set of fines so far this year, with the first costing the operators a combined MRU143.7 million.
