Indonesian broadband internet provider LinkNet (First Media) has revealed that its network passed 2.60 million homes at the end of May 2020, up from 2.54 million at end-March, while the total number of customers on its books increased by a net 75,274 to 743,479. IndoTelko notes that the ISP’s management has successfully broadened the company’s operational footprint beyond its three core cities (Jakarta, Surabaya and Bandung), noting that in January-March 2020, roughly one-third of new customer signups came in areas outside these cities; ARPU is also up, with LinkNet seeing an average increase of more than 50% over the past five years to IDR382,000 (USD22) per month.

The ISP posted revenue of IDR959 billion in 1Q20, up 7.6% year-on-year, although EBITDA dipped marginally to IDR516 billion due to ‘increased marketing expenses related to pole rental expenses, increased bandwidth rental costs to provide faster service to customers and increased employee expenses’. Net income, meanwhile, fell 25.2% on an annualised basis to IDR198 billion.
