Phoenix Tower eyes Italy’s EITowers

US-based firm Phoenix Tower International has offered to acquire the telecoms assets of Italy’s EITowers for EUR550 million (USD615 million), according to a report from Reuters which cites ‘a source with knowledge of the matter’. EITowers is currently 60% owned by Italian infrastructure fund F2i, with the remainder held by broadcaster Mediaset. It operates a network of 2,300 broadcasting masts as well as around 1,000 telecom towers across Italy. Phoenix Tower is looking to expand its European footprint, with existing operations in France and Ireland.
