ST and Orange discussing shared FTTH network

17 Jun 2020

Slovak Telekom (ST) and local rival Orange Slovensko are reportedly discussing the possibility of deploying shared fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) infrastructure. Zive.sk reports that negotiations have been taking place for some months. A deal to share their rollout would result in lower costs for the operators and a faster deployment for end users. Telekom currently has FTTH networks passing around 680,000 households, while Orange’s rollout has passed 526,000 premises. ST has said it would like to reach one million households by end-2024.
