Slovenia backs EUR100m loan for Telekom Slovenije

The government of Slovenia has approved a move by state-backed fixed and mobile operator Telekom Slovenije to borrow up to EUR100 million (USD112 million) from the European Investment Bank (EIB). A report from STA says that the telco requested the loan in February and is planning to use the funds to upgrade its optical network throughout the country. The government owns a 62.5% stake in Telekom Slovenije, while a further 9.8% is held by two state investment funds.
