Italian wireless ISPs GO internet and Linkem have renewed their frequency sharing agreement which allows Linkem to use GO internet’s 3.5GHz spectrum in the Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions. In return, GO is able to access Linkem’s nationwide infrastructure via a reciprocal wholesale deal. The two firms have been working together since early 2018, when Linkem agreed to acquire a stake of over 20% in GO. The latest agreement once again gives Linkem access to GO’s 3.5GHz spectrum, with an option to buy its licences outright. Linkem already owns 3.5GHz permits for 13 Italian regions which it uses to support TD-LTE networks.
Earlier this month GO launched an appeal with the Council of State (Consiglio di Stato, CdS) in an attempt to overturn a decision to not renew its 3.5GHz wireless broadband licence, with its case due to be heard in March 2021.
