The Office des Postes et Telecommunications de Nouvelle-Caledonie (OPT-NC), New Caledonia’s state-run national PTO, has reported total revenue of XPF23.6 billion (USD220 million) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2019, an increase of 2% from the previous year. The firm’s telecoms activities contributed turnover of XPF20.8 billion, of which mobile telephony accounted for XPF13 billion and fixed network services for XPF3.6 billion. OPT-NC reported a net profit of XPF1.1 billion in 2019, up by 2% year-on-year.
As of the end of 2019 OPT-NC said it had connected 14,217 customers to its fibre-optic networks and had deployed a total of 398 mobile base stations across the nation. The state-owned firm provides the infrastructure for the country’s ISPs and also operates in the retail sector itself, via subsidiary Offratel (Lagoon).
