Wind Tre now reselling fibre connections over Fastweb FTTH network

21 May 2020

Italian fixed and mobile operator Wind Tre has expanded its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services under a network sharing agreement with Fastweb. Under the ten-year deal, which was signed in June 2019, the two telcos agreed to deploy a shared 5G wireless network, while Fastweb gained access to Wind Tre’s 4G infrastructure via a roaming deal and Wind Tre was given wholesale access to its partner’s FTTH network. As a result, Wind Tre customers in areas covered by Fastweb infrastructure are now able to sign up for fibre-based services, with download speeds of up to 1Gbps. Wind Tre already offers FTTH connectivity via a wholesale deal with Open Fiber.
