Romania-based Digi Communications has reported group revenue of EUR313.2 million (USD338.7 million) for the three-month period ended 31 March 2020, an increase of 11.4% from EUR281.2 million in Q1 2019. Adjusted EBITDA (including IFRS 16) rose 26% year-on-year to EUR114.7 million, while net losses in the period widened to EUR56 million in Q1 2020 from EUR17.6 million a year earlier. The group highlighted total RGUs increased 9% y-o-y to 16.53 million, with mobile communication service RGUs rising 15% to 5.86 million, fixed internet and data up 11% to 3.74 million and its cable TV subscriber base growing 8% to 4.40 million.
Romania continues to be the group’s core market, contributing almost 62% of group revenues and 11.63 million RGUs in Q1 2020, followed by Hungary (2.49 million RGUs), Spain (2.18 million, an increase of 40%) and Italy (238,000). The Romanian operation recorded 2.88 million fixed internet RGUs (an increase of 11% y-o-y), 3.71 million cable TV customers (up 9.5%) and 943,000 residential fixed line telephony RGUs (down 8.9%). The company’s Romanian mobile telephone subscriber base increased 2.1% to almost 3.48 million at the end of the quarter, while ARPU improved 2.2% y-o-y to EUR4.7 a month.
