Midwest telco Watch Communications has selected Ericsson to deliver a 5G-ready 3GPP-standardised Evolved Packet Core solution to its operating markets in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. The operator notes that this solution can be scaled to support 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) services in the future. The two parties previously announced their agreement to deploy rural fixed-wireless access services in October 2019.
