ISED approves latest Bell, Telus AWS-3 spectrum sharing

29 Apr 2020

Innovation, Science & Economic Development Canada (ISED) has approved the latest spectrum sharing application from nationwide cellcos Bell Canada and Telus, MobileSyrup reports. The joint application was submitted in December 2019 to share ‘AWS-3’ LTE band spectrum, continuing the pair’s well-established network sharing strategy. In reviewing the application, ISED concluded that the agreement will ‘enable Bell and Telus to enhance spectrum efficiency of the joint network and maximises the benefits that Canadians derive from the use of this spectrum’, whilst it found that the sharing pact would not impact ‘the ability of existing or future competitors to provide services in the relevant areas.’
