Belgium full-service telecoms operator Proximus has upgraded the maximum upload speeds of its fixed broadband packages for 1.65 million customers, in response to increased demand during the COVID-19 lockdown. Following the technical migration, which began in mid-March and was completed last week, customers on Start, Comfort or Maxi DSL plans now enjoy maximum upload speeds of 20Mbps, compared to the previous peak rates of 4Mbps, 6Mbps and 15Mbps, respectively. Proximus notes Start customers might see a downgrade after the current coronavirus measures end, while upgrades to the other plans are permanent. Fibre broadband upload speeds have also been boosted, to 20Mbps for Internet Start Fiber, 30Mbps for Internet Maxi Fiber and 50Mbps for Bizz Internet Fiber. Depending on their solutions and service profiles, similar upgrades were implemented for wholesale customers.
