Tigo Colombia has begun the deployment of its recently-acquired 700MHz spectrum in Bogota, Medellin and Barranquilla, TeleSemana writes. Tigo Colombia President Marcelo Cataldo was quoted as saying: ‘It is a turbulent time but we made the decision not to stop. We started the activation of antennas in the 700MHz band.’ The first few sites have already been switched on, the official added, with around 200 municipalities due to be covered in the short-term. Under its rollout obligations, Tigo is due to cover at least 1,630 new locations in the medium-term, and will invest a total of around USD750 million on the rollout.
