5G to launch in Montenegro by end-2022

5G mobile services will be launched in Montenegro by the end of 2022 at the latest, sources from the regulatory agency and mobile operators have told local news outlet Vijesti. Darko Grgurovic, executive director of the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP), stated the regulator plans to publish a 5G strategy later this year and is preparing a spectrum auction for 5G networks in the 700MHz (694MHz-790MHz), 3.5GHz (3400MHz-3800MHz) and 26GHz (26.5GHz-27.5GHz) bands, scheduled for the second half of 2021. He also revealed the country’s mobile operators are keen to carry out 5G pilot projects this year, which will provide an opportunity to showcase the technology’s benefits to the public and businesses.
