Vodafone NZ activates additional 4G cell sites in rural areas

14 Apr 2020

Vodafone New Zealand has switched on five additional 4G cell sites in rural areas of the country to boost connectivity during the COVID-19 lockdown. The new sites, deployed as part of the Rural Connectivity Group, will benefit around 539 rural customers in Manawatu, Waimakiriri, Selwyn, Central Otago and Clutha districts. Vodafone is currently offering unlimited data to rural customers from midnight to 9am during the COVID-19 lockdown, enabling customers to download video and other content at low-peak times for viewing the next day. This is intended to maintain connectivity for work and learning purposes when internet traffic spikes.
