The sale of a stake in Croatian ISP Optima Telekom will not take place this year, even if a buyer can be found. A report from Poslovni says that the COVID-19 crisis and the recent earthquake in Zagreb have led to delays in the process. As reported by CommsUpdate last month, Amsterdam-based United Group and Austria’s A1 Group are thought to have submitted bids for the 17.41% stake currently held by Hrvatski Telekom (HT) and the 36.90% interest owned by Zagrebacka Banka, though this has not yet been confirmed.
The Croatian Postal & Electronic Communications Agency (HAKOM) is postponing its implementation of a new market surveillance methodology to ensure that incumbent operator HT is not squeezing its competitors out of the market due to the level of its wholesale pricing. HT currently has management rights over Optima, one of its main wholesale customers.
