Expresso forced to postpone 4G launch

3 Apr 2020

Expresso Telecom, Senegal’s third largest mobile network operator (MNO) by subscribers, has been forced to postpone the commercial launch of 4G services, originally planned for 31 March, due to the state of emergency declared in the country following the COVID-19 pandemic. The company will wait until the situation returns to normal before completing the final technical and administrative preparations. Expresso revealed, however, that 270 cell sites in Dakar had now been upgraded as part of its ongoing 3G network modernisation programme. This has doubled the network’s previous coverage, offering customers ‘a new experience with high quality phone calls, a faster internet connection and improved indoor network coverage’.
