Vivendi sticking with TIM

31 Mar 2020

French media and communications group Vivendi has reaffirmed its position as a shareholder of Telecom Italia (TIM) following the decision last week by US activist fund Elliott Management to reduce its own stake in the telco from 9.72% to 6.97%. Reuters cites a spokesperson for the French firm as saying: ‘In light of recent events and Elliott’s stake reduction, Vivendi confirms its own commitment to Telecom Italia as a long-term industrial investor.’ TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Vivendi has a majority holding in TIM of around 24%.
