Ukrainian nationwide telco Ukrtelecom has signed a new agreement with existing partners Iskratel and Slovenia’s SID Bank for a rural GPON fibre-optic network rollout. As a result, Ukrtelecom says ‘hundreds of thousands’ of village residents in Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Rivne, Kherson, Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Luhansk regions will gain access to 1Gbps-capable internet connections.
