Proximus and Orange resume preparations for network joint venture

19 Mar 2020

Proximus and Orange have announced the resumption of preparations for their mobile network joint venture, after interim measures imposed by the Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) in January expired earlier this week. Following a complaint by rival cellco Telenet, which argues the collaboration will reduce competition and innovation, the BCA had suspended implementation of the planned collaboration, first announced in July 2019, to give the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications (BIPT) more time to consider the plans. The competition watchdog has confirmed that these interim measures ended on 16 March.
